Problem
Is it possible to use singlemode type connectors (9/126 micron) with 50/125 micron multimode fiber optic cable? Will
this configuration work? Can this mixed environment (multimode cable and singlemode connector) create a link problem?
Is it possible to use multimode type connectors (62.5/125 micron) with 50/125 micron multimode fiber optic cable?
Will this configuration work? Can this mixed environment create a communication problem?
Solution
This answer is no for the first question. You cannot use SM connectors with multimode fiber. This will create more
loss and link problems.
While 50/125 connector may work with 62.5/125 cable, it is best to use the exact connector for optimum results.
