S.I. Tech Introduces USB to Fiber Bit-Driver®
S.I. Tech has developed two new USB to Fiber Optic Bit-Drivers. These products allow a computer's
USB port to be extended over 2 Km using multimode fiber and over 10 Km using single mode fiber*.
Model #2170 USB 1.1 to fiber Bit-Driver and model #2171 USB Hub to fiber Bit-Driver provide USB 1.1 over fiber
to a 4 port USB hub. The fiber link established works transparently between computer and remote devices.
S.I. Tech #2171 Hub has 4 USB ports that allow peripherals such as scanners, printers, digital cameras, and storage
devices to be connected to a remote PC. No software or set up is required for either USB Bit-Driver. Product #7170
cable (Type A to Type B USB) is available to go from PC or peripheral to the S.I. Tech Bit-Driver.
S.I. Tech USB to fiber product is available with ST or SMA connectors for multimode and ST, SC, or FC for single
mode fiber. The units use external power supply S. I. Tech #2161. Each Bit-Driver is lightweight and the enclosure
is small 5.75"x3.8"x1.63" (14.6x9.6x4.2cm).
Additionally, S.I. Tech offers model #2152 Ethernet USB to fiber optic Bit-Driver for interconnecting computer's
USB port to an Ethernet network. The unit is capable of auto sensing 10 or 100 Mbps.
All products come equipped with status indicator LEDs for link, power, host, port activity and 10 or 100 Mbps in
case of Ethernet network.
